Day Twenty

18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 2 Corinthians 5:18

Have you ever gotten a letter in the mail from a credit card company telling you’ve been pre-qualified? These letters will usually tell you that you can spend $5,000 because they’ve already checked you out and decided you would be a good customer. Now, this is just a ploy, there just trying to get you to spend money so that they can charge you interest, a trick. God has pre-qualified us for righteousness. Unlike the trickery involved with credit card companies, He has pre-qualified us already applying the righteousness of Christ to our accounts. Our balances have already been paid. John Wesley writes, “Justifying faith implies, not only a divine evidence or conviction that ”God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself’,’ but a sure trust and confidence that Christ died for my sins, that He loved me and gave Himself for me.” God has given us the gospel of reconciliation. God initiates our regeneration to Himself. Milton Vincent states in his Gospel Primer, “Preaching the gospel to myself each day mounts a powerful assault against my pride and serves to establish humility in its place. Nothing suffocates my pride more than daily reminders regarding the glory of my God, the gravity of my sins, and the crucifixion of God’s own Son in my place.” Pray for the task of reconciling, will be transformed into a ministry of reconciling people to God. Pray for the ministry of reconciliation to transform our city. Pray for reconciliation between fractured communities in our nation. Pray for healing in our land.
