Revelation 12:10-12 “Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, ‘It has happened at last-the salvation and power and kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ! For the accuser has been thrown down to earth-the one who accused our brothers and sisters before our God day and night. And they have defeated him because of the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives to the point of death”
When we think of shepherds we think of sheepdogs. You know, those bright-eyed, quick, agile fluffy, man’s best friends. But did you know there is another animal that is also a perfect one to herd and protect sheep? It’s a llama!! A fairly social animal they usually bond easily to their pasture mates. They graze on the same food like sheep, don’t challenge fencing, have a calm temperament, and live without fear of predators. While a sheepdog stays near its flock, a llama postures and stomps its back feet and in many instances will boldly bolt forward and run straight towards a coyote or wolf in defending its herd!
When you made a decision to follow Christ you were marked with a seal. That seal says you belong to Christ. You were given the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit, who serves as your advocate before the throne of grace. “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge” 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.
We see in the book of Revelation an epic battle against the forces of darkness. It is a desperate and actually pointless battle for the forces of evil because they were in fact defeated over 2000 years ago by the shedding of Christ’s blood!
But we also see another way the accuser is defeated in Revelation12….” they have defeated him by the blood of the lamb And by the word of their testimony”! If you belong to Christ, you have a testimony. Your destiny and life were changed. I once heard, “you can’t argue a changed life”! If you’ve been sealed, you will always belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Wow-what a testimony! But the accuser works overtime in trying to discourage and oppress you, but he can never possess you! His accusations bear no weight with God, but we sometimes allow his accusations to bear weight with us. But see in this passage how this epic battle is won? It is Through the blood of the lamb, and the word of your testimony.
It’s been said we don’t need to remind God how big our problems are; we need to remind our problems how big our God is!! It’s what Jesus did that secures our salvation. In ourselves we are spiritual failures….it’s not about us, it’s about Jesus. What we need to do when the devil accuses us, is to boldly run forward and confess the truth. My failures only qualify me for what Jesus did! My testimony is that I am saved by grace, and not by any work. What have you done to deserve forgiveness and reconciliation with God??…nothing! It’s not what we did, it’s ALL about what Jesus did! So when the accuser reminds you of your failure, you can Charge forward and agree! But don’t stop there (he wants you to stop right there!), But be reminded that you have been saved by GRACE! Give him your testimony! You are a blood-bought child of the King; covered in His grace and mercy with power in your testimony!
As you pray through this passage…..preach the gospel to yourself…that you’re an overcomer because of the blood of the lamb….remember that you Have a testimony and share it! Ephesians 4:19 says, “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it!” And cling to this…” Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, ‘It has happened at last- the salvation, and power and kingdom of our God, and the Authority of His Christ’!”(Rev 12:10-11)
