Day Thirteen

“Love bears all things, believes all things” 1 Corinthians 13:7 Dr. Erika Dawson writes, “We long for someone who will stick with us in the good and bad, who will, even in our worst moments, believe the best about us, and bring out the best in us. We want someone who remains watchful, hopeful, steadfast in love with us. We want a love who will never give up on us. The trouble is, though we want that person who demonstrates that kind of love, we don’t always want to be that person.” In his commentary, W.E. Vines writes, “The phrase “bears all things” comes from a Greek word meaning to cover and is related to the word indicating a roof, or a covering that offers protection from the elements.” In other words, love protects what is within. God protects what He entrusts to everyone who believes on the name of Jesus and confesses that He is Lord. God’s love reacts to “all things” of life with trust and belief that God has a purpose, and though we don’t understand why things happen as they do, He does. When we say that love “believes all things,” we are not talking about being naive. It doesn’t mean that we avoid getting all the facts about circumstances and events, or simply believing whatever is told to us. This phrase speaks of quiet confidence in everything that is happening. You know that it is for your good and God’s glory. God is always protecting what is on the inside of your heart. Pray for God’s hedge of protection around your family today. Pray for God’s hedge of protection to be around your community today. Pray for God’s hedge of protection to be around Knoxville today.
