Revelation 5:6-8 “Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.”
This chapter is a vision showing that God does have a plan that was not to be revealed until Jesus faithfully finished his ransom sacrifice. The apostle Paul wrote, “But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
Until Jesus faithfully finished his work by dying on the cross, the deep things of God were kept hidden. The purpose of the book is to reveal and not conceal the hidden things of God. The angel describes, “Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne.” The Lamb who had been slain is Jesus. He alone takes away the sin of the world. This is an incredible description of our Savior and Lord. Watchman Nee writes, “Christ is the Son of God who died for the redemption of sinners. This is the greatest truth in the universe. I die because of my belief in Christ.” Has this greatest truth changed your life? Would you be willing to die because of your belief in Christ? God is looking for a remnant of people who would lay down their lives for Him. This earth our temporary home, allows us to taste the glory we’ll experience one day. As we grow more in love with God and share that love with others, we will feel more and more captivated by our Savior.
