“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
How would you define God’s love? What does God’s love look like? How do you experience God’s love? I really think that most of my love is selfish. I love because someone will love me back. I love because I need something in return. My love is conditional, but’s God is different, very different. Billy Graham once said, “Only God can give us a selfless love for others, as the Holy Spirit changes us from within. This is one reason we must receive Christ, for apart from His Spirit we can never be freed from the chains of selfishness, jealousy, and indifference. Will others see Christ’s love in your life today?” God’s love is unconditional. God loves you no matter what. God takes our selfish, rebellious, jealous hearts and gives us brand new ones. He takes out of “our hearts of stone and gives us hearts of flesh.” We turn from our sins and receive forgiveness and confess Christ as Lord of our lives. We are free from pretending. We are free from the chains of indifference. God loves you unconditionally. Pray for more of God’s love in your heart and life today. Pray for others to see Christ’s love in your life today. Make a difference in someone’s life today. God loves you with no strings attached.
