As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise. Psalm 42:1-4
How thirsty are you for God? Where do you go to meet with God, in the midst of the pain and tears of hurt? Have you ever asked yourself, where is God? JI Packer writes, “Guidance, like all God’s acts of blessing under the covenant of grace, is a sovereign act. Not merely does God will to guide us in the sense of showing us his way, that we may tread it; he wills also to guide us in the more fundamental sense of ensuring that, whatever happens, whatever mistakes we may make, we shall come safely home. Slippings and strayings there will be, no doubt, but the everlasting arms are beneath us; we shall be caught, rescued, restored. This is God’s promise; this is how good he is.” God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Take time this morning to sit next to the streams of living water of God’s Word and read Psalm 42. Take time this morning to meet God in prayer with shouts of joy and praise. Just remember, “God is in the whirlwind and the storm.” I’’m praying for God to meet you at the point of your need this morning. Go give them Heaven!!
