“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour[a] me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” Psalm 27:1-4
How do you handle fear?? How do you handle the fearful circumstances of your life?? Fear has a way of overwhelming even the most courageous of us. I believe courage is not the absence of fear but the presence of an all-powerful God. God is “my light and my salvation of whom shall I be afraid. The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid.” The emphasis is on “My”. When God becomes my light and my salvation and my stronghold, you have nothing to fear, even an army of darkness. Turn on the light of God’s salvation in your life and face the giants of fear. Find refuge in the stronghold of God’s power and watch God defeat the enemies of darkness around you. Charles Spurgeon writes, “David says, “I am afraid.” Admire his honesty in making this confession. Some men would never have admitted that they were afraid. They would have blustered and said they cared for nothing! Generally there is no greater coward in this world than the man who never will acknowledge that he is afraid.” Begin today, giving your fears to God, all of them. God is your stronghold!! Pray for more of God’s presence in your heart and life today. Pray for more of God’s peace to transform our fearful hearts.
