21 Days of Prayer: August 12

Day Seven

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day.” Psalm 91:1-5

What is God like?? How would you describe God to a child or to someone who is seeking or curious about God?? You could certainly look at His creation and describe the incredible mountains and lakes. You could talk about how you have witnessed family and friends being transformed by Jesus and His gospel, or even your own journey. The amazing thing is God is indescribable. God is incomprehensible. Someone said, “God is not like anything that is, and is not exactly like anything or anybody.” Someone shared with me, that if you can describe your personal ministry, than it is mostly you, but if you can’t describe it, than it is mostly God!! I may not be able to describe God, but I know that He loves me and will never leave me alone. The psalmist reminds us, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.” My hope is in the Most High God. My life is in Jesus, for he alone is “my refuge and my fortress, in whom I trust.” Pray for God to cover you this morning with his wings. Pray for all those who come to worship that they will find refuge in God and God alone. I’m praying for God to meet you at NewLife in worship.
