Before “Netflix” and “On Demand” we used to go to our neighborhood rental store and rent movies. We would wander down the aisles looking for our pick to take home to enjoy on our sofa with our favorite “Orville Redenbacher” and M&Ms. The challenging part of renting a movie was that you had to remember to return them the next day. It was Delight to bring home the latest movie and enjoy the anticipation of the story and special effects. It was Duty to return them. But they didn’t belong on the shelves of your home. They belonged on the shelves of the rental store.
Isaiah 30:15 says “The Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says, “Only in Returning to me and waiting for me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.”
Returning implies two things; it implies there is a “right” place where something or someone belongs, and that the something or someone isn’t in that “right” place.
Isaiah 30:18 says, “but the Lord still waits for you to come to Him so He can show you His love and compassion. The “right” place for you is in fellowship with God. You belong to Him and His motivation for your Returning to Him is simply for you to be in the place for Him to show you His love and compassion. Pray today that He will give you the assurance of His love and your place by Him.
